Following the imposition of modified general community quarantine in the City of San Fernando, the local government on June 16, 2020 inspected fast food chains and restaurants in the city to ensure their continuous compliance with health and safety protocols.
The inspection was spearheaded by the City’s Task Force: Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) which is comprised of the Environmental Health and Sanitation Division, Business License & Permit Division, Office of the City Building Official, City Assessor’s Office, and City Environment & Natural Resources Office. Under the City’s guidelines on MGCQ, restaurants and food establishments are allowed to offer dine-in services at 50-percent capacity and should implement minimum health standards.
Neelam Pangilinan, Task Force WASH team leader and City Sanitation Inspector and Food Compliance Safety Officer, said among the major aspects that were checked were the food establishments’ compliance to the required operational capacity, social distancing and infection control measures.
Pangilinan added that log books are being used by the establishments for incoming clients as part of the contact tracing efforts of the City Government. The team is set to conduct another inspection in the coming days, this time targeting other micro food establishments including “carinderias” and canteens.
