Outgoing PDEA chief is CIAC new head

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Outgoing Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency director-general Aaron Aquino has been appointed head of the Clark International Airport Corp.

President Dutertes appointment of Aquino to his new post was confirmed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea in a message to reporters.

PDEA Northern Mindanao director Wilkins Villanueva replaced Aquino.

In a television interview, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Aquinos transfer to a new assignment was not a case of loss of trust and confidence.

Aquino was appointed by the Duterte as PDEA chief in August 2017.

The incoming CIAC president is no stranger to the Clark freeport and airport, having served as chief of the Police Regional Office 3 where he retired from the service and therefrom assumed the PDEA top post.

As top cop of Central Luzon, Aquino distinguished himself in the strict implementation of Operation Double Barrel which is credited for lowering the crime rate in the region by 30 percent.
