SAN LEONARDO, Nueva Ecija — A 34-year-old jobless man who was arrested for not wearing facemask died of heart attack while on the way to the hospital for medical test shortly before 10 p.m. Friday, police said.

The fatality, identified as Salvador Mariano, resident of Barangay Rizal here, was under the influence of liquor, investigation showed.

In a report to the provincial headquarters, Cpl. Ronieco Rei Dizon, investigator, said Mariano was “slotted and cautioned” by policemen in Barangay Mambangnanhere at around 9:40 p.m. for not wearing face mask which is a violation of the measures under modified enhanced community quarantine.

“But he suddenly responded arrogantly to the policemen while under the influence pf liquor,” Dizon reported.
