NBI nabs teacher for posting P50-M bounty on Duterte’s head

STA. CRUZ, Zambales — An outstanding Teacher 1 is now in deep trouble after posting on Twitter a P50-million reward to anyone who could kill President Duterte.

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation arrested Monday Ronnel Aranda Mas, 25, of Poblacion, Sta. Cruz, and a social studies instructor at the Taltal National High School in Masinloc, Zambales.

The suspect posted “I will give 50 million pesos reward kung sino makakapatay kay Duterte in his Twitter account “Prince”, @ RonPrince with hashtag “No to ABS CBN shutdown.

Agents from NBI Dagupan headed by Rizaldy Jimaylin swooped down in this town after they traced the suspect’s address.

Mas was presented early
Tuesday morning to Eric Distor, acting officer-in-charge at the Office of the Director of the National Bureau of Investigations Headquarters in Manila.

Jimaylin said that Distor ordered him to track down the suspect yesterday morning prompting him to traceseveral accounts who are in communication with Mas through Twitter until another teacher pinpointed and identified the true name and address of Mas.

“Sarado na yung account niya sa Twitter nung binuksan namin, so i tried to contact several names na ka-chat niya sa Twitter until isang teacher ang nasundot namin and sinabi niya ang pangalan at address ni Mas” Jimaylin said.

Mas is now facing charges for violation of Article 142 of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Cybercrime of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.

He is temporarily detained at the NBI holding facilities at the NBI Main Office.

In 2019, Mas was awarded as an outstanding teacher in the province of
Zambales by the Department of Education.
