ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija — A suspected pusher of illegal drugs from Cabanatuan City was killed in a buy–bust operation in Barangay Sto. Rosario Old here at about 5:20 p.m. Monday, police said.
Major Jaime Ferrer, town police chief, said the operation against Jomar Ramil, resident of Barangay Kalikid Sur, Cabanatuan City, was hatched upon confirming information that he continued engaging in the drug trade even amid the enhanced community quarantine.
The suspect, he said, was included in the drug watchlist of the Cabanatuan City police station.
Ferrer said an undercover policeman was able to buy one sachet of shabu but the suspect supposedly “sensed he was transacting with police poseur–buyer.”
Ramil reportedly fired a .38 revolver at the police operatives but missed, “prompting the police officers to defend themselves and returned fire.”
The suspect was hit and died on the spot.
Investigators recovered from the suspect the gun, marked P500 bill, one sachet of shabu and a tricycle,police said.
