Army vows ‘relentless’ campaign vs. NPA

FORT RAMON MAGSAYSAY, Palayan City The Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division commander Brig. Gen. Alfredo Rosario, Jr. on Monday vowed a relentless campaign against communist insurgents as combined military and police forces recovered recently several war materiel in Barangay Labi, Bongabon, Nueva Ecija.

“Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin nabibigyang katiyakan ang kaligtasan ng mga tao sa aming nasasakupan,” Rosario said.

He expressed hope that with the intensified operations being conducted by the Army and the PNP, more rebels from the New People’s Army will surrender bringingalong more war materiel.

On April 30, soldiers from the Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion, 703rd Infantry Brigade and policemen recovered from Barangay Labi one .45 pistol with a magazine and a round of live ammunition, one .38 revolver with three rounds of live ammunition, one .22 home-made pistol (automatic) with onemagazine and five rounds of live ammunition, one power generator, one 81mm mortar ammunition, four M203 grenade launcher ammunition, two  rifle grenades, one  hand grenade, 150 rounds of .30 live ammunition, 15 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition, and 12 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, reports said.

Lt. Col. Reandrew Rubio, chief of 91IB, said all recovered items were turned over to the 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office for proper handling and disposition

“Our people can rest assured that we will continue to go after the NPA bandits  to ensure that they will not get a chance to cause harm again on them especially during the course of our fight against Covid-19,” Rubio said.
