CABANATUAN CITY — Police are set to step up the drive against violators of the enhanced community quarantine protocols in the run up to the Labor Day celebration on May 1.

As of Tuesday, April 28, the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office reported 481 apprehensions of ECQ violators of which 249 were formally charged for various cases, including Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code or Resistance and Disobedience Against Person in Authority, police said.

Other cases filed were for alleged violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Illegal Gambling, RA 11332, curfew and liquor ban

Col. Leon Victor Rosete, provincial police director, on Tuesday directed all unit commanders to intensify its “Kilus Manghuli ng Unauthorized Persons Outside Residence (KMUPOR) “to prevent any mass gatherings and rallies, and to contain Covid-19 said NEPPO’s public information office.

According to the PIO, the move was “in anticipation of the mobilization of the communist terrorist groups to fuel social unrest and capitalize on Covid-19 issues coinciding with the observance of Labor Day.”

Rosete, meanwhile, said that only authorized persons outside residence (APOR) passholders like frontliners, and essential goods/commodity workers based on theguidelines issued by the Inter-Agency Task Force are allowed to go outside, considering that Nueva Ecija is one of the high-risk provinces in the country.
