CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Department of Health–Central Luzon Center for Health Development (DOH-CLCHD) has commended local chief executives (LCEs) who passed the Executive Order and Ordinance against discrimination among health workers, frontliners, and persons infected, or under investigation and monitoring due to Covid-19.
The said EO and Ordinance passed protect the fundamental rights of privacy of every person afflicted with Covid-19 as well as persons attending to and responding to their medical needs, and to protect their human dignity from being discriminated, humiliated,and being disassociated with.
Protection of everyone against any form of discrimination and promotion of equal treatment of people regardless of their status, religion, race, health,physical or medical condition, gender, age, economic status, social status, or occupation is ensured.
Anyone who will violate the EO and Ordinance shall be held liable. They will be
fined with penalty of P2,500 to P5,000, or imprisonment not exceeding six months at the discretion of the court.
They shall be dealt with and penalized in accordance with the existing laws and ordinances.
The DOH-CLCHD lauded the provinces of Tarlac, Bataan, Nueva Ecija, and
Zambales, Olongapo City, and the Municipality of Castillejos spearheaded by their respective Governors Susan Yap, Albert Garcia, Aurelio Umali, and Hermogenes Ebdane, City Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr., and Municipal Mayor Eleanor Dominguez for thisinitiative towards avoiding unfair treatment against our countrymen who are infected with the virus, including the frontliners who are instrumental in winning the country’s on-going battle against Covid-19.
“During this challenging time, we are called to be united and not discriminatory. Unified efforts between government agencies will bring us to a shared vision of a Covid-free Central Luzon and ultimately a country unconstrained of this disease” the DOH-CLCHD said.
This, even as it encouraged the rest of the provincial,city and municipal executives of Central Luzon to pushthe same initiative in order to eliminate discrimination among their citizens.
