BALANGA CITY — The Bataan Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid–19 on Friday night reported that one more died of the virus while the number of confirmed cases rose to 77, many of them health workers.
IATF chair Gov. Albert Garcia said per report of the provincial health office at 8 p.m. Friday, the newest fatality was a 74-year–old male from this city, bringing to four the number of deaths in Bataan.
The governor said that 13 new confirmed cases were added as per Friday night report of the PHO to 64 cases in the morning of the same day. All the 13 are health workers of the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) that was turned into an exclusive facility for Covid cases.
With 13 more, the number of doctors, nurses, nursing attendants and other health workers of BGHMC tested positive of the virus jumped to 42.
Of the new positive cases, seven came from Balanga City; one from Hermosa, two from Samal and one each from Pilar, Abucay and Orion.
They are four males aged 36, 42, 42, and 46 and three females of 28, 29, and 42, all from Balanga; a 28-year–old male from Hermosa; a 30-year–old and a 35-year–old, both males from Samal; a 25-year–old female from Pilar; a 24-year–old male from Abucay; and a 28-year–old female from Orion.
Garcia said contact-tracing, swabbing and investigation continued to identify those who got in direct contact with the affected health workers.
From the 77 cases, 15 have recovered and completing 14 days of post-discharge quarantine before their final release.
