TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – A prominent lawyer was gunned down while attending to clients inside his office in Barangay Poblacion Sur here at about 7:15 p.m. Friday.
Police identified the victim as lawyer Bayani Dalangin, 73, a resident of Ma. Theresa Ext., Cabanatuan City.
Investigation showed the suspect parked his single motorcycle in front of the victim’s office, entered, and shot him successively with a .45 pistol. Investigators recovered five spent shells from the crime scene.
Eyewitnesses reportedly heard the hooded suspect asked who Attorney Dalangin was, and when the victim himself answered, the suspect started shooting him.
Responding policemen rushed Dalangin to the Talavera General Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
The attack happened amid uncertainty on the fate of another Nueva Ecija lawyer, Alwyn Mendoza, 38, of Valdefuente, Cabanatuan City who was abducted by unidentified men in February 2019.
