The Department of Health (DOH) has officially issued an advisory to suspend and postpone public events either attending, participating, and organizing that will draw huge crowds to avoid spreading and contracting the Wuhan coronavirus (2019-nCoV ARD).

According to the World Health Organization, the 2019-nCoV ARD is a new strain of virus that has not been previously identified in humans. As the new virus continues to spread, the DOH also assures the public that all measures to contain the potential spread of the virus are being explored, studied, and implemented.

The DOH has also set up a command center which will focus on 2019-nCoV ARD to expedite coordination and communication among government agencies involved in the response and management efforts.

As of February 8, there are a total of 34,886 confirmed cases globally with 3,419 new cases on record. In the Philippines, there are a total of 281 patients under investigation (PUIs) and three confirmed cases, 36 PUIs are in Central Luzon as of Sunday, February 9.
