BALANGA CITY — Bataan on Wednesday opened a trade fair at the Capitol compound here as part of the week-long celebration of its 263rd founding year as a province.
The celebration that started Monday and to end Saturday has for its theme “Makasaysayang nakaraan, bunga ng maunlad na 1Bataan”.
Stalls in blue tent displayed various food products, delicacies, footwear, shirts, souvenir items, among many others.
For sale are buko pie, garlic shrimp, pickled mongo and green chili, garlic shrimp, araro cookies, peanut brittle, cashew cookies dayap cookies, cashew butter and nuts, honey, turmeric powder, ginger powder, pickled papaya, camote chips, pulboron, banana fruit wine, shrimp paste, fried and smoked fish, pot holder, rugs, ref cover, wallet, T-shirt with printing of Bataan, tumbler, keychains and other souvenir items, footwear, handicrafts, fabric conditioner, soap, powder detergent and many more.
The trade fair will last until Saturday when the parade of floats that will showcase the past and present of Bataan will be presented together with street dancing.
Since Monday, there have been daily theater presentations on the “Alamat at Kasayasayan ng Bataan.”
Fun run and different games were also held.
This celebration was the second after House Bill 3718 declaring January 11 of every year as Bataan Foundation Day was enacted into Republic Act 11138 on November 8, 2018.
January 11 was declared as a special non-working holiday in the province.
Representatives Geraldine Roman and Jose Enrique Garcia III of Bataan’s first and second districts, respectively, principally sponsored the House Bill.
