GUIMBA, Nueva Ecija – An unidentified man inside a sack was found floating in a canal in Barangay San Miguel here at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigation showed the body, described to be medium built, about 40 years old and 5’2” to 5’4” in height, was already in advanced stage of decomposition.
The body had rope tied around the neck and the head covered with masking tape, police said.
Henry dela Cruz, 41, of Pura, Tarlac told the police he saw the sack floating on the canal under a bridge.
Meanwhile, a 61-year-old married woman was gunned down by unidentified men riding in-tandem in Barangay San Mariano, San Antonio town at about 7:30 p.m, also on Wednesday The victim was identified as Antonia Fernando, resident of the said village.
Investigation disclosed the victim was in front of their house when shot at close range in the head by the gunman.
She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Canatuan City.
Police said follow-up investigations are ongoing to establish the motive and possible identification of the suspects.
