MABALACAT CITY — The city government here was recently recognized as the “only” local government unit in Central Luzon that effectively and efficiently implemented the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) for six consecutive years.
Mabalacat City, led by Mayor Crisostomo Garbo, for six years has been awarded the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Govement (DILG) and recognized as Central Luzon’s model LGU.
The city mayor personally received the award with a cash incentive worth P3.5 million.
With this, Garbo pledged to continue his flagship programs of promoting good governance to better serve Mabalaqueños and investors in the city.
“I would like to thank everyone, my fellow city government officials, local government employees for working hard to serve every Mabalaqueño with utmost sincerity,” the mayor said.
Mabalacat passed all these seven areas of assessment, which includes Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, Peace and Order, Business Friendliness and Competitiveness, Environmental Management, and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.
This paved the way for the city to acquire the SGLG for the sixth time.
To date, the Mabalacat city government has bagged six SGLGs and two Seals of Good Housekeeping.
Earlier, DILG Regional Director Julie J. Daquioag said SGLG is a mechanism which aims to gauge the performance of LGUs and thereafter provide incentives to the awardees through monetary grants.
SGLG symbolizes integrity and good performance through continuing governance reforms and sustained local developments.
