CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Governor Dennis Pineda convened members of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) for a pre-disaster risk assessment relative to the impending onslaught of Typhoon “Tisoy.”

As PDRRMC chair, he instructed member-agencies to ensure preparedness is in place and response is accelerated for times it would be needed.

Pineda has ordered for the pre-emptive evacuation of people living in upland areas, particularly in the towns of Floridablanca, Porac and Arayat to ascertain their safety.

In an Executive Order issued earlier today, Pineda has declared suspension of classes at all levels, in both public and private schools, in the entire province, starting 12:00 PM today until tomorrow, December 3. Moreover, work in government offices in the province has also been suspended for tomorrow, except those agencies involved in disaster operations.

“I don’t want to take risk. According to PAGASA (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration), we are expecting heavy rains (due to the typhoon). I don’t want the students to be stuck during the rain. It’s better for us to be ready to any possibility,” he said.

“Work in government agencies which involve the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and performance of other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services,” the official added.

Meanwhile, PDRRM Officer Angelina Blanco assured Kapampangans that the provincial government is ready and on stand-by for any possible occurrence.

As of 8:00PM tonight, Pampanga is placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2, based on the weather bulletin issued by PAGASA. – PIA 3
