CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Businessman Liberato “Levy” Laus is bullish about the economic growth in 2012, notably in the countryside such as in North and Central Luzon.

Laus, dealer of at least 11 vehicle brands, said the growth expected in the agriculture sector and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) will carry growth in Regions 1, 2 and 3” next year. He cited the government’s projected Gross Development Product (GDP) growth “between 3 to 8 percent.”

“I am confident that it will reach the maximum of 8 percent,” said Laus, chairman and CEO of Laus Group of Companies (LGC) which is involved in media, car dealership and insurance, and food businesses.

Laus said the remittances of overseas Filipinos workers (OFWs) will also be the “major factor” of the projected growth next year “only vulnerable to disasters caused by natural calamities and unforeseen incidents.”

He added the growth in the three areas will benefit the LGC’s 33 car dealership branches in North and Central Luzon and Quezon City. They are the dealers of Mitsubishi, Ford, Chevrolet, BMW, Kia, Hyundai, Suzuki, Haima and Nissan.

But Laus stressed that “Pampanga still remain as top vehicle buyer with good loan payers” in his area of business.

“Same as with Zambales and Bataan,” added Laus, whose LGC group now has 1,300 direct workers. He recently expanded operations in Pangasinan, Baguio City and La Union.

He said his confidence in the country’s economic growth allowed him to accept the offer of being the distributor of the China-made Haima in the Philippines. He is set to choose dealers of Haima in Visayas and Mindanao.

Laus also added that he had expanded his businesses because the country belongs to Asia which was described as “emerging market in the globe.”

He also lauded the efforts of President Aquino to stamp out graft and corruption which is “helping the economy and business grow fast.”
