TARLAC CITY — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has awarded a total of 44 patents to farmers in barangay Nambalan in Mayantoc town, securing ownership of about 67.7837 hectares of agricultural lands.

“The issuance of patents is part of the 10-point eco agenda of DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu under Land Management Services. We seek to lessen poverty in rural areas by providing ownership of land they (farmers) occupy and till for decades,” Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Officer-In-Charge Gerundio C. Fernandez said.

“Beneficiaries can use these titles as collateral in venturing to opportunities to further upgrade their farming technology,” Fernandez added.

DENR encourages long time possessors and cultivators of untitled public alienable and disposable lands to seek the advice of the agency on how to avail titling programs. They can visit the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office in their area.
