LANDMARK LAW. Councilor Edu Pamintuan holds his ordinance allowing the creation of the City College of Angeles.

ANGELES CITY – The opening of the bids for the City College of Angeles (CCA) was held on Thursday, ensuring it is ready for the start of classes next year, an official at the City Hall here said recently.

City Administrator Atty. Dennis Albert Pamintuan said the winner of the bidding will make the CCA in Barangay Pampang.

Pamintuan has yet to issue statements about the number of participants since its bidding will start in the afternoon of November 24.  However, he gave an assurance that the CCA will start operating in June 2012.

Earlier, the mayor disclosed that the budget of the CCA will range from P250 million to P300 million.

Councilor Edu Pamintuan, chairman of the committee on education, said the CCA “is my campaign promise which is now a reality.”

“But more importantly, it proved that our mayor fulfilled his fervent wish to provide almost free college education, especially to poor people,” added Edu, who authored the ordinance allowing the establishment of a city college.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan said the CCA will offer courses that would be matched to jobs needed at the Clark Freeport.

“We will do job-matching with locators at the Freeport,” said Mayor Pamintuan in his recent speech during the groundbreaking of a P1 billion hotel-casino at Clark.

He also said that there are more than 62,000 workers at Clark now, most of whom are either from this city or nearby Mabalacat.
