CLARK FREEPORT — The Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE) in partnership with the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN) and Insular Life (InLife) hosted a free financial literacy workshop at Quest Hotel and Conference Center here Thursday last week.

Entitled: “Shaping HER Future: The Sheroes runway to financial freedom,” the workshop aims to empower more Filipino women and expand their access to risk management solutions and investment opportunities on financial management as well as provide network access to business partners.

The Sheroes Movement is a campaign to help shape women’s future via a personal financial forum through PBCWE.

The workshop is open for women and also men to provide them with basic financial management tools that will focus on financial values, spending habits and cash flow analysis.

Amor Curaming, PBCWE program manager said, “It is specifically designed for women but it is also for men because they have women in their lives.”

Raoul Littaua, InLife senior vice president and head of Agency Distribution Group, is also a firm believer of gender equality.

Stressing his notion that most women are “more firm when it comes to finances,” Littaua said, “most Filipinas are careful spenders who prioritize their families although none is usually allocated for savings.”

The workshop was conducted by InLife financial advisor Margelle Detera as she expounded and helped the participants to identify emotional money traps and avoid deficits, achieve a healthy cash fl ow through minimizing bad debts and creating a budget.

A free financial consultation was also conducted after the program to all participants who attended the event.

PhilWEN is a consortium of six women’s groups representing a broad section of industries where women participate by advocating the economic empowerment of women through initiatives.

InLife is the first and largest Filipino life insurance company and the only mutual company in the Philippines.

PBCWE is the sole licensed partner of the Economic Dividends for Gender Equality (EDGE) in the Philippines.
