ANGELES CITY – Top players from Central Luzon and Metro Manila are expected to join the 5th Jericho and The Gang Badminton Cup on April 16 (Saturday) at the Smash Power Badminton Center in Barangay Telabastagan, City of San Fernando.
Councilor Jericho Genasky Aguas , a sports enthusiasts, thanked Mayor Edgardo “Ed” Pamintuan for the realization of his tournament which stopped during the term of Mayor Francis Nepomuceno from 2007-2010.
“With the full backing of Mayor Ed, a sportsman himself, my badminton meet will recommence this year and many more years ahead,” said Aguas. He disclosed that at least P150,000 in total cash prizes and trophies will be given in the one-day event.
Aguas disclosed that national players and varsity members of schools in Pampanga, including Angeles University Foundation (AUF) and Don Bosco Academy, will join the tournament.
“Together with our mayor’s vision of achieving excellence in sport, this is another event to encourage balance and healthy lifestyle, relieve stress, and promote camaraderie not only among the youth but even among the young-once,” said Aguas, husband of badminton player and actress Isabel Granada.
