OFF THE streets into the mall.
Minus the noise, the fumes from passing vehicles, the hot, fetid air and the sweatiness, the smell of smoke on your clothes. But all the flavor, that taste distinct to street food.
This weekend of August 30-31, the Event Center of SM City Clark was transformed into criss-crossing streets of gustatory delights usually served by sidewalk and ambulant food vendors, running the gamut of tusok-tusok, isaw, -silog, goto, tokwa’t baboy, lugaw, hotdog-on-stick, sitsaron bulaklak, dinuguan, bagnet, turon, samalamig, even shawarma.
Dubbed “The Most Delicious Event of the Year,” the SM Hypermarket Street Food Festival – what else? – is actually a movable feast with SM malls taking turns as hosts. Before SM City Clark, it was at the SM City Baliwag. After here, it would be SM Center Pulilan, on Sept. 6-7.

A constant in the street food festival runs is famous chef Boy Logro who whiffs not only his culinary creations but fun and laughter both lapped up by his appreciative audience.
It’s not all dine-in consumables or to-go at the festival bigger savings and event-exclusive promos are offered on Mekeni Food Products, Maggi, Knorr, Purefoods, Bounty Fresh, Alaska, Century, CDO, Farm Fresh, Del Monte, and Joy.
