BALANGA CITY — Government programs and services were brought closer to the youth in Bataan as part of the province’s celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan.
“National agencies (and the Provincial Government) have many programs and services for the youth but the only problem is their proper knowledge on who and where to go including the benefits they can receive,” Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) head Marilyn Tigas said during the opening of the 2019 Provincial Youth Congress.
Tigas explained that the Provincial Government is continuously molding the youth to be the next leaders of the community.
“We will always support the development of the youth and we will continue our programs like the Iskolar ng Bataan as education is one of the priorities of the province,” she furthered.
National government agencies such the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of Trade and Industry, and Philippine Information Agency set up booths to discuss their services and to provide necessary information that the youth should know.
Moreover, offices of the Provincial Government such as Tourism Office, Public Employment Service Office, Iskolar ng Bataan and the Population Office also attended the event and offered their services.
About 300 youth composed of officials and members of the Sangguniang Kabataan, Pag-asa Youth Association of the Philippines and Balangay Bayani as well as student-leaders from various schools attended the gathering which was highlighted by a PinasForward Forum.
The annual event featured leadership talks and team building activities organized by PSWDO and Bataan Provincial Youth Council. -PIA 3
