CLARK FREEPORT – The Widus International Leisure’s Hotel Vida is only the deluxe class hotel in Clark accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT).
But Vida’ executive chef, Michael Caffrey, disclosed that they prioritize the taste of locals in food served at Salt Restaurant.
“Whatever happens, the local market will always be there for us. But we also see to it that foreign guests will enjoy our meals prepared with passion,” said Caffrey, a member of the prestigious World Master Chef and proudly married to a Filipina named Jocelyn.
Caffrey of Scotland said he checks on the quality of food and operations at the time the kitchen staffers do not expect him to arrive.
“This is to keep them on their toes all the time. I also do not announce my dayoff for the same reason,” said Caffrey, who worked at the Dorchester Hotel in London, one of the five top hotels in the world.
Caffrey said the growing number of Koreans visiting Pampanga had also been considered by the hotel executives led by Hotel Vida President and CEO Daesik Han and resident manager Cecille Flores-Sanchez.
“One Korean told me he had tasted the best of their local food not anywhere else in Pampanga but at Hotel Vida,” said Cafrrey.
He added that “the secret to this is hiring a Filipino chef who had extensively worked in prominent Korean restaurants.”
Caffrey and fellow workers are busy of late decorating the Ginger bread house.
“Christmas also means eating lots of great food and being merry. You and your family will definitely experience that at our hotel,” said Caffrey.
Located at M.A. Roxas Highway in Clark, Hotel Vida is teeming with activities 24-hours a day due to Casino Widus. Both facilities are designed with unique tropical theme and modern yet elegant ambiance.
