ANGELES CITY – At least 166 students of the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) have benefited from the recent study-tour in Malaysia and Thailand aimed at enhancing their “global competitiveness.”

The AUF tourism students toured Kuala Lumpur and Malacca in Malaysia and Bangkok in Thailand as part of the school’s program designed to upgrade their skills and be competitive in the international market.

The 75 AUF tourism students stayed for four days in Malaysia through Global Access Travel and Tours based along McArthur Highway, Balibago, here.

The 91 AUF Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) students, on the other hand, also stayed for four days in Bangkok City through the SM City Clark-based Ties That Travel agency owned by Gilda Padua.

Accompanied by AUF teachers Romina Lising and Jean Paolo Lacap, the AUF students visited the Taylor’s University College in Kuala Lumpur. They were briefed on the courses offered at Taylor’s, including tourism.

Marcia Hernandez, general manager of Global Access agency, disclosed that the AUF delegation had also visited the Tourism Board of Malaysia headed by Zakaria Mohd Nani, deputy director of the International Marketing Division.

Accompanied by AUF faculty teachers Howard Dizon and Heinz Pelayo, the HRM students had lessons at Blue Elephant Culinary, one the prominent cooking schools in the capital of Thailand.

After their lessons at Blue Elephant, the HRM students were given time to tour other areas in Bangkok.

In interviews with students after their arrival here, they said “their confidence had been boosted and they aim to conquer the international tourism scene.”

“We definitely have the edge as Filipinos and as students of the AUF,” they said. They were sent to Malaysia under the college of business and accountancy course.
