DOLE Zambales Initiates Learning Session to Address Various Labor Concerns

OLONGAPO, ZAMBALES— A total of 190 representatives from various establishments in Zambales gathered and attended a learning session in Suzuki Beach Hotel Function Hall. The said gathering was organized by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Zambales Field Office and was held on Wednesday, the 10th of July 2019. The topics covered during session focused on, but not limited to, labor relations, labor standards, and occupational safety and health standards.

“The subjects tackled in today’s orientation and learning session originated from issues encountered during mandatory conferences (MC) and conciliation-mediation process in Single Entry Approach (SENA). These topics were requested by our clients, and DOLE Zambales is very glad to be able to equip companies of what is necessary. Our goal is to make companies independent in the sense that they can address labor concerns at their level,” said DOLE Zambales Provincial Head Reynante Lugtu in an appreciation message during the training.

The activity, which was held in line with the Department’s continuous effort to educate employers and employees, is one of the agency’s strategies to promote voluntary compliance on existing labor laws including the new OSH law (Republic Act No. 11058) and Expanded Maternity Leave Law (Republic Act No. 11210). Senior Labor Employment Officer Arvin Fabian and Chief Reynante Lugtu were the main resource speakers for the said learning session.

Ms. Suzette Tolentino, Human Resource Manager of Autodelta Coach Builders, Inc. and one of session’s participants, said she fully supports the Department’s programs and its initiatives. “It is good that they conducted another batch of training because some were not able to attend the previous one. As an HR practitioner, continuous updates on labor laws are necessary for us to be aware of possible violations and when should our practice and policies have to be realigned.” Other participants included representatives from 105 companies in the field of construction, education, hospital and medical, hotel and restaurant, retail, and services.

Together with all provincial field offices, DOLE Region 3 remains committed to its vision “to develop human resources, protect workers and promote their welfare.”
