CLARK FREEPORT – The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) board has designated its chairman, Nestor Mangio, to lead a fact-finding committee which will investigate the demolition of at least seven buildings at the CIAC property here.

CIAC Executive Vice President Alexander Caugiuran, in text message shortly after the CIAC board meeting on Wednesday, said the board “created a fact-finding committee to continue the data gathering, they will proceed from the report I submitted.” He added that the committee is composed of some CIAC board directors chaired by Mangio.

Mangio himself confirmed his task of leading the investigation triggered by the complaint of Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo as two of his warehouses at Civil Aviation Complex of CIAC have been reportedly demolished, and whose materials were sold as scrap. Pelayo maintains warehouses for his projects here promoting the agricultural produce of Canbaba.

Mangio disclosed that the members of the committee include CIAC directors Al Cusi, Jess Nicdao, Rafael Angeles and their legal counsel is Atty. Raul Dizon.

CIAC President and CEO Victor Jose Luciano will reportedly arrive from the USA this week. He was asked by Mangio in letter dated May 26 to shed light on the demolition of buildings which also questioned by the Commission on Audit (COA).

“Mr. Luciano was stabbed several times while he was away. We are sure he will have the answers to the controversy when he arrives,” said a CIAC worker close to him who refused to be named fearing reprisal.

Poison letters against Luciano were circulated at CIAC and sent through mails since last week.
