CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The City of San Fernando served as the regional showcase site of the 2ndQuarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held Thursday afternoon.
“Disaster preparedness is not just the work of one agency nor the responsibility of an individual. Saving lives, providing aid, reducing its impact on vulnerable populations and rebuilding the community should be a collective effort and a concern of everyone,” Department of the Interior and Local Government Assistant Regional Director Jay Timbreza said.
For his part, Mayor Edwin Santiago said disaster preparedness in terms of actions and resources is something we can pass to the next generation.

“Pursuant to Republic Act 10121 otherwise known as Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act, public awareness shall be undertaken through the conduct of drills on a regular basis,” Office of Civil Defense Regional Director and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Chairperson Marlou Salazar emphasized.
This was supplemented by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Plan by highlighting the importance of developing and implementing a comprehensive national and local preparedness and response policies, plans and system through the establishment, enhancement, and simulation of scenario-based preparedness and response plans.- PIA 3
