MAGALANG, Pampanga – The Tau Gamma Phi (TGP) fraternity recently celebrated its 41st anniversary by staging simultaneously two projects, including a tree-planting activity here.

TGP National Premier Guy Lopez disclosed that fraternity members in Magalang planted 100 seedlings of tamarind as part of their year-long tree-planting activity.

Lopez, on the other hand, distributed some 1,000 bags of relief goods to typhoon Ondoy victims in Cainta and Marikina. He added that his team composed of TGP members coordinated their project in Marikina with Mayor Lourdes Fernando, a member of the TGP.

“This is our own little way of helping flood victims and continuing effort to help preserve the environment,” said Lopez.

Engr. Antonio Gulapa, governor of the TGP Pampanga Provincial Council, disclosed that seedlings came from Dr. Norman De Jesus, head of research of the Pampanga Agricultural College (PAC) and TGP member.

De Jesus said the seedlings were “first-class and at par with the tamarind sold in Thailand.”

Attending the anniversary here were town Councilors Boybart Bartolome and Toc Miranda, TGP Magalang Chapter President Burly Cruz and Board Member and TGP Member Cris Garbo.
