DTI warns erring traders

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Officials of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Pampanga yesterday issued a stern warning against traders who will violate the price control imposed by the governmnent due to the recent typhoons.

    At the Kapihang Kapampangan at the DTI office here, DTI Provincial Director Leonila Baluyut said that violators of Repulic Act No. 7581 could be meted imprisonment of not less than one year nor more than 10 years. 

    In the same law, she added, the price control watch will last for 60 days starting when President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared the nation under state of calamity last week.
      

    Nathaniel Samson, senior trade and industry development specialist of the DTI, disclosed that they confiscated ten defective weighing scales in a recent operation in Sta. Rita and Lubao towns. He added that two supermarkets in Lubao had been issued notice of violation.
