6 Bataan villages get SGLG

ORANI, Bataan– Six villages here were the first recipients in Central Luzon of the Barangay Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of Interior and Local Government, DILG Orani head Cristy Blanco announced Wednesday.

The awardees were barangays Mulawin, Bagong Paraiso, Sibul, Apollo, Tapulao and Talimundoc that each received an SGLG certifi – cation and prize of P1,666,666.67 to be used in projects in the respective villages.

“This is the first time in Region 3 patterned after the SGLG national assessment,” Blanco said. DILG usually gives SGLG to municipal and provincial governments.

Funds came from the local government unit at P2 million, 1st District Rep. Geraldine Roman at P5 million and P3 million from the provincial government or a total of P10 million.

The villages passed DILG’s five core areas in financial administration, disaster preparedness, environmental management and peace and order and two essential areas in business friendliness/ competitiveness and social protection.

“Upang mahikayat sa matinong pamamahala at upang lalong maitaas ang antas ng pamamahala ng mga barangay,” Blanco said as to the purpose of the Barangay SGLG.

All the 29 barangays in the town were given P5,000 and plaques of participation and to some plaques of recognition for good documentation.

Barangay Mulawin, a farming village, was among the few that received the good documentation award and later among the six villages handed the Barangay SGLG.

Barangay Mulawin chair Marvin dela Cruz thanked his barangay council and residents for full cooperation extended. “Hindi namin makukuha ang award na ito kung hindi sa lubusang pakikiisa ng buong barangay council at ng aming mga kababayan,” he said.

The awarding ceremonies held Monday night were attended by 2nd District Rep. Joet Garcia, Vice Gov. Crisanta Garcia and town officials led by Mayor Efren pascual Jr.
