BREAKING NEWS: Laus dies in crash

Pampanga business mogul Levy P. Laus dies in a helicopter crash in Malolos, Bulacan Thursday afternoon. This was confirmed by Narciso “Jun” Sula, a close Laus aide.

The helicopter, owned by LGC Air Transport, came from the NAIA General Aviation hangar and was bound for Pampanga, it was learned.

The helicopter crashed into a fishpond in Barangay Anilao, Malolos City at 12:47 p.m. According to a police report, Laus and the helicopter pilot Capt. Eder Coronel were declared dead on arrival at the Bulacan Medical Center while his bodygurad Wilfran Esteban expired while doctors were trying to rervive him at the hospital. Another victim was rushed to the “nearest hospital.”

The helicopter was identified by its code RP C8098. Police described it as a “total wreck.”

In a separate statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the helicopter left the NAIA General Aviation hangar at 12:28 pm, bound for the City of San Fernando.

CAAP Director General Jim Sydiongco sent Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board investigators to the crash site, led by chief investigator Rainier Baculinao.

CAAP said LGC Air Transport is the owner and operator of the helicopter.
