ANGELES CITY – Councilor Jay Sangil yesterday expressed opposition to the plan of the majority members of the city council to resume the relocation of displaced settlers at the Northville 15 village project here.

Sangil disclosed that Councilor Rudy Simeon, member of the majority bloc, have a pending resolution asking for the transfer of displaced residents at their houses at the 25-hectare site in Barangay Cutud.

“I want to ask Councilor Simeon if they could risk their names and the safety of the people by allowing the settlers to live at the unpleasant place,” said Sangil.

Last May, Sangil exposed the alleged sub-standard materials used at some of the 3,500 houses at Nothville 15.

Simeon, for his part, said he had consulted the public and displaced settlers before filing the proposed resolution. He added that in his resolution the concerned settler would inspect his unit first before transferring.

Simeon said several village chiefs had expressed support to the resumption of relocation at the housing project. He named Barangay Captains Val Lagman of Claro M. Recto and Aymer Alvardo of Sto. Cristo as two of those who supported his move.

Simeon said “no one will be forced to transfer.”
