City of San Fernando—Reelectionist Jimmy Lazatin yesterday said that he will work for unity in the city council in support of the common interest of Fernandinos if given a chance to serve again as vice mayor.
Lazatin said that unity in the city council and support for the good plans of whoever is the incumbent mayor is crucial in the development of a city.
That said, Lazatin said that he will work for the realization of the good fiscal, economic and development plans of the city’s executive adding that he is confident that Mayor Edwin Santiago can deliver a third term.
Lazatin said that he will continue to advocate for legislation to strengthen the city’s education and health programs. He said that his long experience as chair of the city’s committee on education had impressed on him the importance of keeping the education sector well supported.
“The education sector is the primary source of the much need skilled labor force of the city. From teachers to engineers, the quality of graduates spells the quality of manpower we will have for the city’s labor sector,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin, whose program initiatives include development of the education sector here, said that young students should also factor into their ambitions ways that they could help their families and their city.
Lazatin had been instrumental in the development of integrated schools in this capital city. He added that continuous support for the different sectors of the city could only be achieved if there is unity of goals among the legislative and executive branches of the city government.
Lazatin had always prided himself of being an independent politician. He ran in 2016 independently as vice-mayor and won a decisive election against rivals. He said that while he prides himself of being ahead of the pack, he is also a team player when the future of the Fernandinos is at stake.
A scion of the rich Lazatin clan, he also served as city councilor. Lazatin has been one of the leading names of the City Council of San Fernando. During his time as councilor, he is known to be the most visible and popular among incumbent city councilors for his environmental advocacies as well as projects on improvement of education in the city.
