CITY OF SAN FERNANDO— Vice Mayoralty candidate Jimmy Lazatin said that he will push and support efforts to update the city’s development road map to accommodate the latest developments and projections for the city’s development.
“Legislative measures should always be in line with the current needs of the city to enable the growth of business and investments,” Lazatin said. The reelctionist vice mayor said that the he will initiate the start of review of current legislation to fit the development road map of the city.
Lazatin said that it would be crucial to coordinate such measures with the city mayor. Lazatin added that reelectionist Mayor Edwin Santiago had expressed interest in charting and longer and more responsive development program for the city.
Lazatin said that development programs should be identified for the city’s infrastructure, education, social services, investments and tourism in the next 10 to 20 years. He added that such development roadmap should involve the public and private sectors.
“We must be more pro-active in anticipating the needs of the development trends in the city,” Lazatin said, adding that the current increase in businesses and local investments in the city necessitates a more prepared workforce that could only be supplied by well-trained and educated graduates.
Lazatin also added that expansion of the needed vital road networks and facilities must be greatly considered as more investment in the city means more vehicular traffi c in the future.
The vice mayor also expressed concern on the need to protect small and medium enterprises by establishing a business enabling environment in the light of the influx of big business investments that can impact smaller industries and investments.
He added that any development road map should include the sector’s outputs and challenges, including the need for a business enabling environment and more support from the government.
