A SIMULATION exercise (SIMEX) in handling bomb-related emergencies was conducted over the past week in the City of San Fernando, through the initiative of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office, in partnership with the San Fernando Police and the local government unit.
This capital city was the Pampanga PPO’s pilot venue for their SIMEX activities, which are expected to be staged in other towns of the province. This was in preparation for the forthcoming May 13 polls, which, police said, may experience bomb threats or actual bombing incidents.
Procedures in handling bombs from the cases of detection and explosion up to the arrival of responders and rescue/ evacuation of the affected individuals were tackled during the activity.
The City College of San Fernando was used as venue of the drill to make the simulation as close to the real polling precinct as possible.
Aside from PNP personnel, members of other concerned agencies and Incident Management Team (IMT) in the LGU also participated in the said activity, which is also considered as a review and study of the city’s current plans, protocols, and policies on various hazards like bombing-related incidents.
