ANGELES CITY – Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno on Saturday met a freak accident while playing golf at the Mimosa golf course in Clark requiring a one hour surgery on his right leg the following day.

City Administrator Mark Allen Sison, in a phone interview, said a stray golf ball hit the pivola of Nepomuceno while playing with his friends.

Sison said he told city hall workers the “true situation” of the mayor at the flag-raising ceremony on Monday.

“It’s nothing serious. He is okey and will be back to work on Wednesday (today),” said Sison. “He loves golf but he plays during weekends when work is done.”

He also disclosed that Nepomuceno was operated at the Angeles University Foundation on Sunday night. He added that a certain Dr. Tablante, an orthopedic, took an hour to repair the injured leg of the first-term mayor.

Sison said the doctors put a cask on the mayor’s leg and it will be removed after six weeks.
