PILAR, Bataan — A member of the Citizen Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was arrested here on Friday for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
Sr. Insp. Francis Jimenez, Pilar police chief, said Ronaldo Tangente, 33, CAFGU member of the 48th Infantry Battalion, “Guardians” BN, 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, was nabbed based on a search warrant.
He said the suspect of Barangay Liyang here was a former member of the New People’s Army (NPA) who surrendered and later became a CAFGU member.
Confiscated from suspect were a caliber .38 revolver loaded with four live ammunitions and a rifle grenade, Jimenez said.
The police chief said they applied for the issuance of a search warrant after receiving reports that the suspect while drunk fired his gun twice in the village.
“Nahahrap siya sa kasong paglabag sa Republic Act 10591 in relation to the Omnibus Election Code or election gun ban at R.A 9615 or Illegal Possession of Explosives,” Jimenez said.
