CLARK FREEPORT – A P1.5 million worth of medical donation was given to the Candaba Infirmary Hospital, the only hospital of its kind in Pampanga, by Widus Foundation, Inc. (WFI) as the first beneficiary of its “Medical Equipment Donation and Supplies” (MEDS) flagship corporate social responsibility project.

To seal the commitment, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was signed on Wednesday by WFI executive director Agnes “Neki” Liwanag and manager Ronnel Golimlim with Candaba Sangguniang Bayan vice chair on health, councilor Carol Foz, during the “Talk Widus” media forum organized by the Pampanga Press Club in cooperation with the hotel.

Various medicines, medical supplies and hospital equipment will be donated to the Candaba Infirmary Hospital and three other rural health units under WFI’s MEDS project.

“Caring for indigent families through convenient access to basic and quality health-care is one of our foundation’s core principle… with MEDS,” Golimlim said. “This program enables us to address the basic medical needs of the community by providing hospital equipment and supplies to resource- limited district infirmaries,” he added.

Describing the medical upgrade project as a “step towards achieving their dream for all,” Foz expressed her gratitude to the foundation’s tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to help enhance the quality of health-care in their community.

“We feel lucky that WFI chose Candaba as the first recipient of the MEDS project among all other hospitals in Pampanga. We are truly grateful for all the support and help they have generously given us,” Foz said.

Constructed in 2015, the Candaba Infirmary Hospital is a one-storey building with a 16-bed capacity unit equipped with standard medical equipment to effectively cater to the basic health needs of Candabeños and nearby town residents.

By adopting the Candaba Infirmary Hospital under the MEDS project as it undergoes expansion funded by the Department of Health, WFI and the local Municipal Health Office of Candaba are aiming to qualify the infirmary to a Level 1 District Hospital by the end of the year.
