CHAN LIM Family of Artists and Students pays tribute to the late SM Supermalls mogul Mr. Henry Sy Sr, via an exhibit at the Event Center 3 of SM City Clark which will run from Feb 3-24..

Mr. Alex Lim son of the founder of Chan Lim of Artists and Students said in his interview said:

“We pay tribute to the late Mr. Henry Sy through the exhibit of chinese and Western hand painted lanterns.

“These lanterns has a total number of 260 pieces, which were done by 43 artists.

Mr. Sy is not only a good friend of the family but he serves as an inspiration to the people for his support to certain communities”.

Timed with this year’s celebration of the Chinese New Year, the show presents artworks that employ the primary techniques in traditional Chinese painting; the intricately detailed “gonbi” style and the free form “shui-mo” ink-and-wash painting style.

Mainlined by landscapes, flowerscapes and lifescapes, the show aims to reinforce Cabalens familiarity with traditional Chinese painting motifs through artworks that are not overly concerned with representation but are more focused on intimating a sense of personal manifestation from a viewer.

The Chan Lim family of artists – headed by the family patriarch Jose Chan Lim – has been engaged in the visual arts field for nearly 50 years. Currently composed of three generations of artists, the Metro Manilabased family regularly holds painting workshops in the family studio in Pasig City.

The family and its students have had more than 15 local and international art exhibits to date, the first held in SM Megamall in 1995.
