“We just want to see our president and please let us stay here for awhile before we go,” said two elderly women to Presidential Security Guards (PSG). They pushed their way at the position of journalists to get a good sight of Arroyo who was wearing a white gown.
Pampanga Archbishop Paciano Aniceto and Msgr. Eugenio “Jun” Mercado, parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes, officiated the mass attended by First District Rep. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, Angeles City Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno, Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, Subic Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCADC) Chairman and Mabalacat Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales.
Aniceto, in her homily, urged the people to “support Preident Arroyo amid the world-wide crisis.” He also announced that the feast yesterday coincided with the anniversary of the first holy communion of Arroyo.
“The president is a Marian devotee,” said Aniceto.
Morales, a devout Catholic, said “let’s be a source of hope for those who are living on the edge as symbolized by President Arroyo.”
