Senior Supt. Pierre Bucsit identified the victim as Joven Pineda Deala, 21, of Sto. Nino, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Porac. He is the brother of Allan Pineda of Barangay Sapang Bato, here, who is a hip hop musician and member of the world-famous Black Eyed Peas.
Bucsit said Deala and his companion were about to go home when two men shot him at close range on Mayflower St. He added that Deala died instantly due to a gunshot wound in the temple.
Bucsit said the suspects are still unidentified. They were wearing jeans, t-shirts and sports caps when they killed Deala.
Buscit said they have in their custody the victim’s girlfriend and have asked her to help them identify the suspects. He refused to give the name of girl for her own safety and protection.
“So far all we could say for now is that the motive could be a grudge,” said Bucsit. “No valuable materials of the victim were lost after the incident.”
Hip hop singer Pineda, 34, will reportedly go home to attend the funeral of his brother, said friends and relatives of the victim. The international artist is reportedly “very close” to his brothers who are based in Barangay Sapang Bato, here.
The murder of Deala came just after the fatal shooting of Heherson Punzalan, a businessman and part-time disc jockey in Barangay Sto. Domingo here last month. Police have yet to make breakthrough in the murder case. Punsalan was shot to death inside his car and on his way home to Essel Park in nearby City of San Fernando.
