CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago on Monday reminded the public, particularly Fernandinos, to pay their tax dues.

“Start the year right by paying your taxes correctly and on time,” Mayor Santiago said after he personally secured his Community Tax Certificate or Cedula from the City Treasurer’s Office.

Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor Nelson Lingat, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Gustav John Henson, City Administrator Engr. Fernando Limbitco, as well as some department heads and employees, also obtained their respective Cedula.

“As we know, tax is the lifeblood of the government. Without it, it is difficult for any state to function. Here in the city, we make sure that the revenues we collect are spent wisely and judiciously in sustaining the different projects and programs that truly benefit our beloved citizens,” Mayor Santiago explained.

Santiago also urged taxpayers to file and pay their tax dues early to avail discounts and avoid glitches.

The deadline for the Community Tax Certifi cate or Cedula is on the last day of February of each year.

Taxes that are due this January are Tax on Delivery Trucks (on or before January 20); Permit Fee on Service Motor Vehicles (on or before January 31); and, Professional Tax Receipt or PTR (on or before January 31).

Both Business and Franchise taxes must be paid on the first 20 days of January or in quarterly installments within the first 20 days of January, April, July, and October of each year.

Occupation or Calling Fee are due within the 20 days of January and every quarter thereafter before a person can engage in the pursuit of his occupation or calling.

The annual payment for Real Property Tax (RPT) or “Amilyar” is on or before March 31. It may also be paid on quarterly installment (on or before March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31).

A 20-percent discount is given to those who will pay their RPTs for the year 2020 from January until November 30, 2019.

Other tax deadlines that the public should be mindful of are Property Transfer Tax (within 60 days from date of execution of the deed or property owner’s death); Amusement Tax (on the 20th day of the month following the month it is due); and Market Stall Rental (within the first 20 days of each month).
