CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 138 Aeta farmers from Mabalacat City and Porac who graduated from the Season-Long Training on Vegetable Production were lauded by Acting Governor Dennis ‘Delta’ Pineda.
The 12-day training was conducted by the Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPA) headed by Edilberto Salenga, in coordination with Mabalacat and Porac Local Government Units and Pinatubo Eco Adventure and Cultural Enclave, Katutubong Anak ng Mt. Pinatubo (PEACE KAMP) Of the 138, 62 were from Barangay Villa Maria in Porac town while 20 were from Barangay Sapang Uwak, also in Porac.
Meanwhile, 56 Aeta farmers were from Marcos Village in Mabalacat City.
“The Provincial Government will always promote unity and equity regardless of race and cultural diversity,” Vice Gov. Pineda said.
He also said, “Whatever you will need, the Capitol has its all-outsupport to you.”
For Pineda, the training will help them to enrich their knowledge in the production of vegetables and fruits.
The knowledge they gained will improve more their skills in maintaining their livelihood.
He also assured that if given the chance to win as Governor in the 2019 elections, the programs initiated by Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda for the marginalized sector will continue.
The Provincial Government will take action if there is a need to boost development for these programs.
The Aeta farmers thanked the Provincial Government for its unending support.
Moreover, they also received food assistance from the Department of Social and Welfare Development (DSWD).
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) headed by Elizabeth Baybayan also said to them that the Capitol will always set them as a priority.
It can be recalled that some Aeta scholars who graduated from College are now employed as social workers in the PSWDO.
Also assisting the Acting Governor in handling the certificates were Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, Porac town Mayor Condralido ‘Carling’ dela Cruz, Masantol town Mayor Dan Guintu and Capitol department chiefs headed by Provincial Administrator Atty. Jun Andres Pangilinan Jr
