CABANATUAN CITY — The Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office (NEPPO) and the Commission on Elections (Comelec) have sought the cooperation of both politicians and the public to ensure a peaceful and meaningful national and local elections.
The appeal was aired by Atty. Jonalyn Sabellano, provincial election supervisor, and Senior Supt. Leon Victor Rosete, NEPPO director, during the unity walk and peace covenant signing of candidates held at the Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park and the police compound along Burgos St. here Monday.
The activity where candidates for various provincial and local positions pledged to pursue peaceful and honest elections was also participated in by the Philippine Army’s 7th Infantry Division, Department of Education, Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Catholic Church and other religious denominations, among other stakeholders.
Sabellano stressed that any violation of election rules have corresponding penalties that may include removal from office, warning that there have been some politicians who have been elected but later unseated for violating election laws.
“Simpleng batas, simpleng pagsunod,” she said.
Rosete meanwhile called on motorists to cooperate with lawmen in Comelec checkpoints even as he vowed to keep such checkpoints within the limits of the laws.
“These checkpoints will be marked with lights and our men will be in proper uniform,” Rosete said.
He urged motorcycle riders to always bring certificate of registration and driver’s license. Plain view rules will also be observed for large vehicles.
