BALANGA CITY – Bishop Ruperto Santos of the Diocese of Balanga on Thursday said he does not fear the threat of President Duterte “to kill bishops”.

“Let us just pray for him,” he said.

The Bataan prelate considered the President’s statement as “very heartless and very harmful to all.”

“He is not only attacking the Church but dividing our country and showing that there is only hatred in his heart,” Santos said.

The bishop claimed Duterte’s pronouncement disgraced himself and was a disappointment to all God-fearing citizens.

“It is pitiful that our President with his careless and uncharitable statements has lost his moral authority,” he said.

Santos also delivered a special message for everyone.

“Sa kapaskuhang ito ay tingnan natin ang kabutihan ng bawat isa. Huwag nating pintasan, huwag nating husgahan, huwag nating takutin bagkus ang Pasko ay kabutihan. Gumawa tayo ng kabutihan, ng kagandahan para sa ating kapwa,” the bishop said.

Santos is a regular member of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and chair of the CBCP – Episcopal Commission for the Protection of Migrants and Itinerant People.
