ANGELES CITY – A former security guard yesterday accused Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo of harassing him and even threatening to “bury him” during an encounter at their town hall on Monday.

Juan Narvasa Jr., a resident of Barangay Dau in Mabalacat who was connected with the Visual Security Agency, said he was waiting for Candaba Councilor Andy Gulapa when accosted by Pelayo at the mayor’s office.

Narvasa said Pelayo had asked his bodyguards to invite him at his office while he was waiting at the lobby.

Narvasa, who resigned from his security job on October 15, alleged that upon entering the mayor’s office Pelayo shouted at him.

“Gusto mo ibaon kita dito ngayon (do you want me to bury you here now?),” Narvasa quoted Pelayo as saying.

Narvasa said Pelayo had even asked the police chief to jail him.

Narvasa said he was applying for a job with Gulapa who is a contractor-architect. He added that he needed “a better job because our children are going to college.”

Pelayo, in a radio interview over DWGV-AM yesterday afternoon, denied the accusation of Narvasa.

The two-term mayor said “as a mayor, I am security-conscious.” He said Narvasa “looked unfamiliar and he asked him who he was.”

Pelayo said Narvasa had told him he was a member of the Mabalacat police. He added that he had called Mabalacat town police Chief Insp. Jovencio Flores to verify if Narvasa was part of the police unit in Dau.

“The police report proves that I called Major Flores to verify the claims of Narvasa,” Pelayo said.

Gulapa said “he was saddened by the action of Pelayo.” He added that “it was not right to welcome a visitor like Narvasa that way.”

Gulapa said he has “high-respects” for Pelayo though.
