ANGELES CITY – Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan is set to distribute land titles to at least 213 residents of Barangay Pampang here through the Local Urban Poor Affairs and Housing Office (LUPAHO).
This, after city officials signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the owners of the land in Purok 5-B in the barangay to pave the way for the ownership of the lands occupied by the residents who have been informal settlers in the area.
The MOA was signed by Pamintuan, Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno, Councilor Amos Rivera, Pampang barangay chair Luis de Luna, and LUPAHO head Jericho Baldemor on behalf of the city government, and lawyer Renee Rose Marie Serrano, and Carmelo Virgillo Lim on behalf of the land owner, as well as homeowners association president Geralyn Cura. It provides for the sale of the land to the occupying folk.
The property is owned by the Lim, Santos, Serrano, and Nepomuceno families.
The MOA provides that the sale of the property would cost P1,000 per square meter if paid within one year or P1,500 per square meter payable within three years.
Rivera noted that LUPAHO is mandated to “perpetually render efficient and effective public service to indigent Angeleños by providing them decent homes which can truly be called their own.”
He urged the beneficiaries to honor their commitment to pay for their lands as stipulated in the MOA. Already, a total of 38 individuals from Purok 2 were awarded land titles during the MOA signing.
Vice Mayor Bryan Matthew Nepomuceno acknowledged and certified the “unselfish generosity of the Lim, Santos, Serrano and their ascendants by collaborating with the city officials” for the housing titling project.
Nepomuceno also led the oath-taking of the newly elected homeowners association officers shortly after the signing ceremony.
For his part, Pamintuan expressed his appreciation to the “unparalleled generosity of the land owners for helping the city accomplish its programs for the benefit of the urban poor.”
The mayor added that “the active involvement of the benefactor families manifests their unity with the administration’s efforts to achieve zero informal settlers in the city.”
He assured his constituents that “the city’s program on low cost housing will be sustained by the local government in the coming years.”
