CLARK FREEPORT – The Philippine Airlines (PAL) cancelled Wednesday its flights to and from Osaka, Japan due to the temporary closure of Kansai International Airport, which was affected by flooding and a closure of the access bridge to Japan mainland.
“PAL anticipates more disruptions to its flights to Kansai as the effects of super typhoon Jebi take its toll on Osaka and its environs,” said an advisory issued by PAL.
The airlines said its advisory yesterday was “in addition to the earlier announced cancellation of all flights to and from Osaka Kansai for Sept. 4, 2018.”
It listed affected flights between Kansai on the one hand and Manila, Cebu and Taipei on the other.
It said “PAL will advise passengers on any further updates on the status of the regular and/or replacement flights originally scheduled for (Sept. 5), that have now been cancelled.”
It noted that “land transport to Kansai Airport from Osaka City has been cut after a tanker ship was blown by strong winds and hit the connecting bridge. We are now awaiting updates on when the Kansai Airport will be reopened to accept flights.”
PAL advised “passengers of cancelled flights will be rebooked on the next available flights or replacement flights, if any; or may choose to be rerouted via other suitable airports in Japan. They will be notified via email, telephone call and/or text message.”
PAL also said “passengers who booked through travel agents are advised to check with them on their new flight schedules, as not all travel agents have given PAL the contact details of their client passengers.”
“Those who wish to be rebooked/rerouted or avail of a refund, may call the PAL hotline 855 8888 or visit the nearest PAL ticketing office or partner travel agent,” the advisory added.
It also said “passengers may rebook/reroute/refund within 30 days from original flight date without any rebooking fee. While rebooking, rerouting and refund fees are waived, a fare difference is collected when a passenger rebooks on a higher cabin class (for example, from economy class to premium economy; or from economy to business class, etc.).”
