CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will start next year the construction of the North-East Luzon Expressway (NELEx).

“We will finish the feasibility study this year and construction will start next year,” Public Works Sec. Mark Villar said during a recent visit to Bulacan which will be traversed by the project.

He said NELEx will be a 92.1-kilometer toll road that will start in Quezon City and traverse San Jose Del Monte, Santa Maria, Norzagaray, Angat, San Ildefonso, and San Miguel in Bulacan as well as Gapan, Santa Rosa, and Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija.

“Once NELEx is completed, it will decongest the Bulacan and Nueva Ecija portions of Maharlika Highway. It will also serve as fast alternative route for those vehicles bound for Cagayan Valley region. This will be connected to the Central Luzon Link Expressway,” Villar said.
