A state of emergency has been declared in Mindanao.

Me, I want a state of emergency declared by senior citizens who are asking for the immediate implementation of the expanded senior citizens law. Whoever has been tasked to prepare the guidelines should work overtime. Some of the senior citizens may not even enjoy the privileges of the new law. I know some who cannot use their senior citizen cards in heaven.

Surely, those who have been assigned to prepare the guidelines are not senior citizens. If they are, they should not be in government. You know why.

There are 61 persons eyeing a Senate slot. In my line up there are 13 and Mr. VAT is not one of them. He should stay with his wife and help her in the campaign trail.

I have very little respect for senators who answer the roll call and are dumb the rest of the Senate session. Of course they are the members of the unseen committee on silence whose members often sleepily try to listen to the deliberations in their seats and appear to enjoy it. This is rewarded with by a multi-million peso pork barrel.

Bribery is fast becoming the name of the game in the presidential and vice presidential derby.

Villar reportedly tried to bribe Senate President Juan Ponce Enrille, Senators Jamby Madrigal and Richard Gordon. Another report said the Camp of Senator Roxas has offered to bribe Senator Loren Legarda. Both as you and I know are bice presidential hopefuls.

Villar’s wife denied the report. That is Villar’s style. In the Senate investigation of the C-5 road controversy it was Gilbert Remulla and some of his friends who denied the accusations.

In Villar’s case, I still hope he will answer and defend himself against some 900 pages of documents/evidence mentioned by Senator Madrigal and Senate president Enrille.

In his last privilege speech Villar denied he has done anything wrong. He walked out of the Senate hall after his speech. The issues against him will most probably haunt him for some time and hurt his presidential bid.

Senator Legarda said in a tele radio interview that she was not offered a bribe but was asked by Senator Roxas sometime after October last year if she could support his “principal” (Noy Noy) and himself (Roxas), and make “arrangements” outside the electoral process. Senator Legarda stressed that she was not offered a bribe. Senator Roxas was somewhere in Mindanao after Senator Legarda was interviewed Saturday afternoon March 13.

For some people it is unthinkable that at this point in time Senator Roxas would bribe Sen. Legarda as he (Roxas) has led all the way in the vairuos surveys.

Bribery is a difficult crime to prove more so in the case of Villar and Roxas.

A report said that Comelec has discovered 250,000 double registrants. The Comelec also knows that many candidates for various offices have posted campaign materials outside the designated poster areas.

The problem with Comelec is that it knows the violation and the violators but refuses to do something more concrete than tell media of their findings.

Double registrants should be prosecuted and meted the full force of the law. Candidates violating the Comelec rule on the legally designated poster areas must similarly be dealt with according to law.

The Department of Health reportedly ordered 50 million pesos worth of condoms. That is more than half of the country’s population Good. But please appeal to some women’s group not to send another basket full of condoms to the CBCP. The bishops do not need that much.

Clottey once more proved that he is an excellent defensive boxer. But in boxing defense does not win a fight, you don’t win by letting the other guy hit you and do nothing about it. To me it was a lousy fight and it was not Pacquiao who is to blame.

Clottey’s game plan was simply to survive.

If Judy Ann Santos is pregnant and Piolo Pascual is happy about it. Does it merit headline news on television?
